Future Is Now On New ECIA Authorized Electronic Components Inventory Website

The site is operated by the Electronic Components Industry Association (ECIA). It is the first of its kind to be industry-owned and managed.

The highly-anticipated new website is a key component of the ECIA’s efforts to fight the flow of counterfeit parts, providing customers with a secure location to find authorized products. The site “only lists inventory that is genuine and backed by the manufacturer’s warranty,” said ECIA President Robin Gray.
“Now, OEM and CEM supply chain professionals have a choice,” said Future Electronics’ corporate vice-president Rob Birse. “For the first time, they can competitively source a full range of components within the safety of an authorized-only environment. We are proud to be part of the association and the Web site.”
Future’s authorized component categories include MCU/processors, passives, production products, interconnects, electro-mechanical devices, discretes, analog, logic, lighting solutions, memory, optoelectronics and development tools. All can be searched on http://www.ECIAauthorized.com.
Search results on http://www.ECIAauthorized.com are displayed at random, based on search match and availability. This is a major difference from some search sites, which are influenced by advertising expenditures or sponsorships.
While inventory searches will be handled on the association Web site, sales will be completed through each distributor’s private site. Future Electronics orders will be placed through http://www.futureelectronics.com. This is another benefit to users in that it eliminates the possibility of purchase data being captured and shared by unauthorized third parties.
